Tough times don’t last forever; one day, the hardships do set sail,

But trust me, I know, it’s hard to believe when the checks ain’t coming in the mail.

When faith seems like a concept, and trust seems like a scam,

When you second-guess every choice you make, if you’ve been there, raise your hand.

When the numbers don’t add up, and there seems no place to turn,

When they don’t care, and turn your power off, still remember seeing the candles burn.

When you shopped for clothes at the Army, and was thankful for Goodwill,

When you reflect on every “right” choice you’ve made, thinking this life cannot be real.

When you walk away from certainty to pursuit an unknown dream,

When you walk the tightrope between broke and bankrupt; the days hold a familiar sting.

Without the hardships in your life, and mine…while we discuss,

There’s no realization of today’s miracle, been blessed throughout; saying “thank you” is a must.

Hold on to the dreams you believe in; stand firm, things will begin to change,

Your thoughts maintain the climate of your life, through the sunshine and the rain.

And when the clouds of your hardships part, and you reflect on how much you grew?

Never give up the dream. Always believe. Hardships come to bring out the best in you.
